Whitehaven’S Neighbourhood Policing Team is going out into the community in local villages and rural areas.

PC Stephen Doyle and PCSO Ronnie Vaughan will be visiting the areas surrounding Whitehaven in a mobile police station to provide community contact surgeries in Distington, Gilgarran, Pica, and Moresby Parks. The surgeries will provide these communities with an opportunity to meet their neighbourhood police officers and discuss any problems they may have, ask for crime prevention advice, and have their say on policing priorities in their neighbourhood. They will also offer SmartWater marking for people’s valuables.

PC Doyle said: “I have recently taken on the role as the neighbourhood police officer for Distington and Moresby Parks, which also includes the rural areas surrounding Whitehaven. “I am keen to meet local residents, so myself and PCSO Vaughan have decided to bring our mobile police station to the community, rather than the community having to come to us. “We would urge locals to pop in for a chinwag over a cuppa so they can air any problems that might otherwise go unknown to the local police. We need people to come along and support this venture so we can continue to bring Cumbria Constabulary back to the villages.”
