Crime Reduction through Forensic Coding
The impact of SmartWater as a criminal deterrent is becoming increasingly apparent every day. Police forces across the nation are using and supporting The SmartWater Strategy, and most importantly criminals are taking notice – living with the fear of being caught and convicted of crimes long after they have taken place.
The following stories highlight the success of The SmartWater Strategy when deployed by regional police as part of their crime reduction initiatives. Each success story gives information detailing the specifics of the crime reduction strategy as well as their objectives, and examples of the press coverage that each initiative achieved.
THREE YEAR SENTENCE FOR WOOLWORTHS THIEF
Forensic evidence provided by SmartWater helped Kent Police to convict a burglar who stole over £8,000 worth of mobile phones and computer games.

Operation Graphite was rolled out force-wide by Cleveland Police in early 2008 to specifically target thieves stealing metal and then trading it in at local scrap yards.

SERIAL JEWELLERY RAIDERS ARE BEHIND BARS
Over a 2 year period Elliot Burton, Luke Nash and Simon Waller committed nine robberies on high class jewellers in Birmingham, Chester, Cheltenham, Harrogate and St Albans, as well as Jeremy France Jewellers in Winchester. Property stolen from the nine robberies was estimated to be worth in the region of £2million.

The number of quad bikes stolen has been reduced by more than a third
Prior to the introduction of SmartWater just 200 farmers across Cumbria were actively involved in neighbourhood watch schemes, which had seen the number of quad bike thefts spiral by 184 per cent since 2001.

Almost all Church of England churches will be protected by SmartWater
